trustedaiagencies.com lists 69 AI chatbot agencies and 47 voice agent agencies in England. The median starting price for a project is £1,500 for chatbot agencies and £1,800 for voice agent agencies; firms doing both sit at £1,500. 35 firms do both.

This page compares the two side by side for businesses in England: who does what, where they are, what they publish as prices and how to pick. For the full lists, go to AI chatbot agencies and voice agent agencies. For how each technology works and what it costs to run, see the guides to AI chatbots for small businesses, website chatbot costs and AI receptionists and voice agents.

England here means the nine English regions in TAI’s data. Firms that list themselves only as UK-wide (54 across all of TAI) are not counted, so the real choice is a little wider.

Chatbot or voice agent: which problem are you solving?

Before you compare firms, decide which channel matters most:

  • Choose a chatbot if most questions arrive through your website, WhatsApp or social messages, and people are happy to type.
  • Choose a voice agent if you miss phone calls, take bookings by phone, or your customers are more likely to ring than type.
  • Choose a firm that does both if you want one set of answers, one booking system and one supplier across phone and chat.

Each median uses the lowest published price of that kind for each firm. Most are “from” prices. Some are fixed prices or ranges, counted at the fixed amount or the bottom of the range. The monthly samples are small (10 to 21 firms), so treat them as a rough guide.

The chatbot and voice columns overlap: the 35 firms that do both sit in both. Put another way, 34 chatbot-only firms in England offer chatbots but not voice agents, and 12 voice-agent-only firms offer voice agents but not chatbots.

Most voice agent firms in England (35 of 47) also build chatbots, while about half of chatbot firms (35 of 69) also build voice agents. If you start with a chatbot and may want phone answering later, ask about voice from the start.

London has 19 chatbot agencies, 14 voice agent agencies and 11 that do both. The North West has 14, 12 and 8. TAI lists no voice agent agency based in the North East. Both kinds of work are usually set up remotely, so a firm in another region, or one of the UK-wide firms, can serve you just as well. Browse by area on the regional pages.

Which sectors they name

Each group’s most named sectors differ a little:

  • Chatbot agencies in England most often name trades and home services (19), e-commerce and retail (18) and healthcare and clinics (17).
  • Voice agent agencies in England most often name trades and home services (17), healthcare and clinics (16) and professional services (13).

If your sector is on these lists, ask for an example from a business like yours.

Published prices, in their own words

Prices as each firm publishes them on its own website. This is not a ranking or an endorsement.

Firms that do both

  • AI Bridge Club (agency, North West): “AI chatbots from £197/month; missed call text back £97 setup + £97/month”. The chatbot is a “from” price; the missed call service is a fixed setup plus a fixed monthly price.
  • Octopus Business AI (agency, London): “Plans from £29/month plus setup from £149”. These are “from” prices.

Chatbot only

  • AI Optimised (agency, South East) publishes “From £495 setup + £175/month” for its Starter plan and “From £1,500” for a bespoke project. These are “from” prices.
  • MS IT Solutions (IT services provider, East of England): “SupportDesk AI customer support from £79 a month”. This is a “from” price.

Setup fees and monthly fees are often quoted separately. Compare the total for your first year, not just the monthly figure.

How to choose between them

The voice agent and chatbot guides already cover the technology, running costs and UK rules. To compare the firms themselves:

  1. Count your enquiries by channel for two weeks: calls, missed calls, web chats, emails and messages. Start with the biggest.
  2. Ask each firm to quote the same brief, with setup, monthly fee and any usage charges listed separately.
  3. If you may want both, ask firms that do both to price them together, and ask whether one knowledge base feeds both.
  4. Check what it connects to: your calendar, CRM or booking system. A bot that can’t book is only half the job.
  5. Ask who owns the setup and what happens to your phone number, scripts and data if you leave.

The checklist for choosing an AI automation agency covers general vetting.
